This project was made by Márcia Valente, Maria Coelho and Mariana Xavier. Our topic is Artificial Intelligence, more specifically its influence and integration in our lives. While working in this project we realized how diverging people’s opinions can be when it comes to Artificial Intelligence and that made us wonder how differently the students of similar ages perceive AI. We went around and ask the same 3 questions to random university students. Here are the results.

Rosário Teixeira

Interviewer: Do you think robots will truly be able to be completely independent one day?

Rosário: Maybe one day, I think time is flying very fast and, one day, probably.

Interviewer: Do you think AI will become dangerous?

Rosário: It depends, I think Humans will always be able to control it but we have to be very careful.

Interviewer: In what way has AI changed your life?

Rosário: Personally, it didn’t change yet cause I don’t… I use my phone and that type of things, but I don’t use Siri, for example, so I think, for now, it didn’t change my life.

Carolina Rocha

Interviewer: Do you think robots will truly be able to be completely independent one day?

Carolina: Yes, I think so because of the evolution of the Artificial Intelligence. I think that one day, they will be able to do that.

Interviewer: Do you think AI will become dangerous?

Carolina: Yes, it can become dangerous because people may lose their jobs.

Interviewer: In what way has Artificial Intelligence changed your life?

Carolina: Sometimes I use Siri at iPhone.

António Camarão

Interviewer: Do you think robots will truly be able to be completely independent one day?

António: Yes and you can clearly see that on all the Internet.

Interviewer: Do you think AI will become dangerous?

António: I think yes and you can clearly see that on some movies and I think that even being old, those movies are very realistic nowadays.

Interviewer: In what way has AI changed your life?

António: It changed my life on my type of searching because I have Siri and now I can search without have to type but only speaking.

Marta Monteiro

Interviewer: Do you think robots will truly be able to be completely independent one day?

Marta: Honestly, I really don’t think so because even Humans make mistakes and being a robot created by a human being, I don’t think it will possibly be able to dominate us and robots don’t even have a brain to mentally evolve so, I don’t think it would actually be really that possible.

Interviewer: So do you think AI will become dangerous?

Marta: I don’t know, not believing they… robots will actually be able to dominate us, I don’t think it can be that dangerous in the future, but, well, if it turns out to… to dominate us yes, maybe.

Interviewer: In what way has AI changed your life?

Marta: I don’t think AI hasn’t changed my life that much, I don’t really play games online or stuff that envolve virtual reality or Artificial Intelligence so, I don’t think it really change that much in my life.
