Who we are

My name is Márcia. I’m 19 years old and I live in porto. I’m currently studying in ESE ( Superior school of education ) and working at Arcádia, a chocolate house/ coffee. I’m a gamer. I always loved games since I was little. My favorite game is League of legends, but I also play dead by daylight, two point hospital, counter-strike etc. When I’m gaming, I’m usually streaming too. It’s a hobby and I also make money from it so it’s good for both my mental and financial health. I live with my sister. I also have a brother, and two nieces. Fun fact: I only met my brother 1 year ago, and he’s 40 years old! I’m taking this course because I love languages and I love having opportunities to explore other people’s way of living, such as their culture, language, gastronomy, music, and so on.

Hi, my name is Maria Coelho, I’m 18 years old and I’m from Penafiel. I’m currently studying Foreign Languages and Cultures at the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. In high school I studied Science and Technologies but in 12th grade I understood that what really liked was foreign languages, so I decided to make a change and try this course. So far, I am really liking it and loving to learn French and Spanish and improving my English. With this degree I hope I can get better in talking in public and helping as many people as I can. I’m very shy and very funny. I am passionate about learning new things, learning new languages, travelling, culture, music and dancing! Dancing is what I like the most because we can express ourselves in a different way. Also, I know how to play the guitar, I’ve learned it for 6 years.

Hi! My name is Mariana Xavier, I’m 20 years old and I’m from Castelo de Paiva. I’ve been living in Vila Nova de Gaia since the start of September 2019.
This is the second degree I try. My first attempt was at a biology degree at FCUP, but it didn’t work out for me. I decided to apply for LCE at ESE because of my interest in languages and in being able to speak fluently as many languages as possible. I’m also interested in travelling, volunteering, sports, art, gaming and I love animals. I studied classical music for 5 years and played volleyball for 8. I’ve always had quite a wide range of interests and I enjoy learning new things.
My current goal is to try to help as many people as possible – a wide language knowledge can help with that – while learning new skills and gaining credit for the professional world. Media literacy and skills fit well into the latter, since they’re becoming more and more relevant so that’s where this course and project fit in.
